Colazione (breakfast)
Italian breakfast is traditionally light. Which really means just coffee, specifically, caffè moka, espresso, cappuccino or caffè latte. Those with caffeine or lactose intolerance will drink caffe’ d’orzo; a nutty, warm drink made from roasted barley. Italians who want to eat something just to hold them over until lunch usually grab a pastry, or a biscotti or a piece of cake. Anyhow, no worries, at L’Arte we offer a lot more for breakfast (just look below) because even though we are Italiophiles we get it, we’re in New Jersey!

Your choice of plain, almond (stuffed with almond paste) or chocolate (layered with chocolate dough and stuffed with chocolate chunks).

Your choice of filling vanilla or chocolate pastry cream, apricot or raspberry jam, Nutella or Sicilian ricotta and Nutella.
TRECCINA
Delicious danish topped with vanilla pastry cream and chocolate chips (crema) or apricot jam (albicocca).

Rolled dough stuffed with vanilla pastry cream and topped with pecan pieces.
GIRELLA
Rolled dough stuffed with red delicious apples, apricot jam and golden raisins, dusted with rock sugar.
MACALLE’
Also known as “cartoccio” is one of the most appreciated breakfast item in the streets of Sicily, fried dough filled with vanilla pastry cream and chocolate shavings or Sicilian ricotta and toasted pistachios.
BOMBOLONI
Made from scratch and fried daily during the weekends, these light and delicious Italian doughnuts are filled with jam, Nutella and seasonal pastry creams.
